Does my cause have to be a 501c(3) organization?

No. If you do not have a 501c(3) status, you must receive prior permission before registering by emailing us a description of your cause and how you plan to use the funds. You can email us at info@washforacause.com

How much revenue will my organization receive per voucher sold?

Your organization will receive $4.60 per voucher sold. The car wash that the recipient selects will receive $4.60. The remaining $0.80 goes to washforacause.com for credit card processing fees, hosting fees, marketing, and administrative expenses. In addition there is a one-time $25 charge that is required to set up your unique web site.

Does Washforacause.com profit from my charities campaign?

No. Washforacause is run by the New England Car Wash Association, which is a not for profit trade association for car wash owners, suppliers and friends of the car wash industry. The administrative fees listed above were designed to cover our expenses related to this website.

How long does it take to receive money donated on Washforacause.com?

Money donated to the charities is distributed once a month. You will receive a check within 30 days after your fund raising campaign ends.

Why is there a maximum amount of time of eight weeks for my cause to raise money?

We discovered that by only offering a car wash for a limited amount of time, your donors will be incentivized to donate in a timely manner. If you do not raise enough money or want to continue your program for longer than eight weeks, simply sign up again.

Who thought of the idea for Washforacause.com?

Washforacause.com was created by four car wash owners who already had fund raising programs at their car washes. These car wash owners had traditional fund raising programs, having charities sell physical car wash books and keeping a portion of the profits. By creating a common program offered by many car washes, donors have a choice of where to redeem their car wash. In addition, the cash management and distribution of wash tickets is now done through the website, making it easier to focus on your cause and distributing tickets and collecting cash.
